Consultation Details
Consultation fees vary by practitioner based on their experience and location. Our booking team can provide current rates.
Initial consultation:
- 90 minutes per person (60 minutes for babies under 12 months)
- Followed by a personalised written health plan (sent within 1 week)
Follow-up consultations:
- First follow-up: 60 minutes (approximately 6 weeks later)
- Subsequent follow-ups: 30–45 minutes as needed
Long-term support: Expect to work with your practitioner over several consultations to reach your health goals. Many clients have chronic conditions and work with us long-term, while others come for specific issues or annual check-ups. We’ve supported some families for over 25 years!
Clinic Locations
In-person consultations available at:
- London: Sloane Square (Chelsea), Parsons Green (Fulham)
- Berkshire: Newbury
- Cheshire: Knutsford
- Somerset: Bath
- Surrey: Godalming
- Warwickshire: Whichford
- Wiltshire: Newton Toney
Virtual video consultations available from practitioners based in: Alton (Hampshire), Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Camberwell (London), Southfields (London), Shrewsbury (Shropshire), Witney (West Oxfordshire), Wallingford (Oxfordshire), Horsham (West Sussex), and Cairns (NE Australia)
In-Person vs. Virtual Consultations
All clients must be seen (face-to-face or video) during the initial consultation—even babies need to appear briefly for 5–10 minutes.
Virtual consultations work well when:
- Travel is difficult due to distance, disability, or school commitments
- You want more flexibility for follow-ups
For children: We try to minimise missed school time. Another adult can bring them in briefly at the start, then take them back to school. Children don’t need to attend follow-ups unless they want to.
Preparing for Your Appointment
After booking, you’ll receive:
- Email confirmation with a link to an online health history questionnaire
- Reminder email and text message before your appointment
Please complete the questionnaire well in advance and include:
- Detailed health history
- Complete diet information
- Full medication and supplement list (include brand names, dosages, and duration)
- PDF copies of past lab results and medical/educational reports
- A portrait photo of the client
- Video footage of specific behaviors (for children, if relevant)
Important: We cannot proceed without a completed questionnaire. This allows your practitioner to prepare properly and use consultation time effectively.
Cancellations: Please give as much notice as possible – we have long waiting lists, and practitioners have childcare costs and clinic rent to consider.
What Happens During Your Initial Consultation
We’ll discuss:
- Your (or your child’s) detailed health history, including family medical history
- Current diet and lifestyle
- Specific health goals
- Any triggers or patterns we identify
Physical assessments may include:
- Eye, tongue, and nail analysis
- Abdominal check
- Review of recent lab results from a functional medicine perspective
(These vary based on age, presentation, and whether the consultation is in-person or virtual)
Tip: Prepare your questions in advance!
Your practitioner will then recommend:
- Diet and lifestyle changes
- Food supplements
- Laboratory testing (if needed)
After Your Initial Consultation
Within 1 week, you’ll receive: A personalised health plan via email that includes:
- Specific diet and lifestyle changes
- Exact food supplement recommendations and where to buy them
- Instructions for laboratory testing (if recommended)
- A summary tying together everything discussed
This report takes 1–4 hours to write and is included in your initial consultation fee.
Optional early follow-up: You may book a 30–45 minute consultation within 2–3 weeks if you need help implementing the plan or have more questions. This is especially encouraged for complex health situations.
Ongoing support: Expect regular 30–60 minute consultations every 6 weeks or so. Lab results require a minimum 60-minute follow-up for full explanation and interpretation. Each follow-up includes an updated health plan if needed.
Cost Structure
What’s included in consultation fees:
- Time spent during the consultation
- Time to write your personalised health plan (1–4 hours depending on complexity)
- For initial consultations: time to order lab tests
Follow-up consultations are charged at your practitioner’s hourly rate and reflect both consultation time and health plan writing time.
Note: Lab test costs and supplement costs vary by individual and are additional to consultation fees.
Laboratory Testing at NatureDoc
Why We Use Lab Tests
Lab tests help us identify the root causes of chronic conditions by revealing what’s driving your symptoms. We investigate nutritional deficiencies, metabolic and cellular health, inflammation, genetics, and gut microbiome function.
Our Laboratory Partners
We work with established labs in the UK, US, and Germany, including:
Genova Diagnostics, Invivo Healthcare, Doctors Data, Vibrant Wellness, AONM, Precision Medical, Cyrex Laboratory, Mosaic Laboratory, Lifecode Gx, Viva Health, Medichecks, Bio-Diagnostics, Biovis, and others as needed.
For children: We avoid blood tests whenever possible. Most pediatric tests use urine, stool, or hair samples that can be collected at home.

Important Testing Rules
We cannot order tests before your initial consultation. UK regulations require us to meet you or your child first. This consultation is essential for:
- Assessing which tests are actually needed
- Finding the best testing approach within your budget
- Understanding your full health picture
After your initial consultation, your practitioner can order repeat tests and schedule follow-up consultations to review results.
How Testing Works
1. Tests are ordered immediately after your initial consultation
- Test kits are sent to your home
- Most are stool, urine, saliva, or hair samples
- For blood tests, we’ll recommend phlebotomy services near you or arrange a home visit
2. You complete the tests at home
- Full instructions for payment, collection, and return come with each kit
Read all instructions carefully before testing
You are responsible for:
- Paying for the tests (usually directly to the lab when ordering)
- Collecting the samples correctly
- Posting or couriering them back to the lab
3. Results timeline
- Tests take 10 working days to 6 weeks to process
- Your results follow-up consultation will be scheduled 4–6 weeks after your initial consultation
Your Results Follow-Up Consultation
What to expect:
- Minimum 60-minute consultation
- Comprehensive interpretation of your results in the context of your medications, diet, stress levels, and exercise
- Clear action points for rebalancing any abnormal markers
- Discussion of next steps
After the consultation:
You’ll receive a new personalised health plan within a few days (up to 1 week for complex cases)
This plan may include:
- Tailored dietary changes
- Lifestyle and habit modifications
- Herbal remedies
- Personalised food supplement regime
Note: Test interpretation is complex and nuanced and requires years of experience. Your practitioner writes these detailed plans personally, which can take several hours.
Between Consultations
We’re happy to answer 1–2 brief questions via email if you need clarification to move forward with your current health plan. Examples:
- A supplement is out of stock
- A lab test needs to be reordered
Response time: We aim to reply within 2–3 days.
Please save all other questions for your next follow-up consultation. We cannot provide detailed ongoing email support between appointments – please respect your practitioner’s time.
Payment Information
Consultation payments:
- Due at the time of the appointment (in-person consultations will be charged ahead of the consultation)
- Paid by credit/debit card via your practitioner’s payment terminal (no American Express)
- Have your card ready before the appointment starts to maximise your consultation time
Laboratory test payments:
- Charged separately from consultation fees
- Usually paid directly to the laboratory when ordering test kits
- Some tests may need to be paid at the time of the appointment
Food supplement payments:
- Charged separately

- Many supplements are available through NatureDoc.Shop with special client discounts
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do I need to bring my child?
Meeting Your Child Is Required
For all child health appointments, we must meet your child in person or via video for at least 5–10 minutes during the initial consultation. This is:
- A regulatory and ethical requirement
- An important part of their overall assessment
Your child only needs to attend once. Schools are typically very flexible about allowing one-off appointments during school hours.
Making It Work for Your Family
If your child gets restless or you need to discuss sensitive topics:
- Bring two adults to the appointment
- One adult can take your child home or nearby to play after the first 10 minutes
- You can then discuss everything privately with the practitioner
For virtual appointments:
- Much less disruption—no travel time required
- Your child can quickly return to school or other activities
- Easier to arrange time out of earshot when needed
- Another adult can take them back to school after the brief assessment
Minimising School Disruption
Flexible scheduling options:
- Book at the start of the school day
- Schedule over lunchtime
- Arrange near the end of the school day
- We’ve even conducted appointments while families sit in the school car park (with good Wi-Fi!)
Note: As we’re all parents ourselves, we’re unable to offer appointments after school or on weekends.
Follow-Up Appointments
Your child doesn’t need to attend follow-ups. However, if long-term support is needed, we’d ideally like to see them briefly once a year.
How do your waiting lists work?
Our reception team will do their best to place you with the most experienced practitioner for your needs. However some of our practitioners currently have very long waiting lists.
If you want to see a specific practitioner:
- Book an appointment in advance, ask to be added to the wait list and we’ll do our best to bring it forward if slots open up
- Check in with our reception team from time to time for last-minute cancellations
We completely respect your choice of practitioner. However, we encourage you to consider starting sooner with an available practitioner rather than waiting longer for someone specific.
Why?
- You can begin rebuilding your health now before things worsen
- All our practitioners work closely as a collaborative team
- We all share the same high standards of care and training
- There’s little practical difference between practitioners in terms of quality
Are your services covered by health insurance?
Insurance companies rarely cover our services.
Some people with bespoke international insurance packages such as Global BUPA cover our consultations, lab tests and supplements (however UK BUPA do not cover anything).
You will probably be aware of what is covered and what is not for your policy and if you have this additional cover. And please always check.
You will need to pay your practitioner for the consultation and then claim back.
The lab tests are usually third party payments and you will need to claim back from the labs direct and not through NatureDoc.
I am taking some supplements already
We understand many people research and source supplements independently. While we support informed decision-making, we cannot take responsibility for the quality, safety, or effectiveness of supplements we haven’t specifically recommended for you or your child.
To request a supplement review:
- Send us a full list before your next consultation including:
- Product name
- Brand
- Weblink for each supplement
- We’ll assess each one during your consultation by:
- Researching the product in detail
- Evaluating it against your child’s health history
- Considering current test results
- Determining if it’s appropriate for your child’s needs
Cost: £5 per product (covers detailed research and clinical evaluation time)
Important: We can only conduct these reviews during scheduled consultations, not between appointments.
Can I send in previous test results?
If you’ve already had tests done, please attach them to your health history questionnaire in PDF format (please do not send multiple screenshots). These include:
- Blood tests
- Stool, urine, hair, or saliva tests
Important: Please send results well in advance so your practitioner can prepare properly. We can usually interpret results from multiple laboratories and in multiple languages.
A consultation is always required for proper interpretation. We analyse results in the context of your complete health history and current health status and this complex process cannot be done via email or between appointments.
Do I need to bring specimen samples with me?
Do Not Bring Samples to Your Consultation
Please do not bring any specimen samples (urine, blood, stool, saliva, or hair) to your appointment.
How Testing Works
During your initial consultation, we’ll decide which tests are most appropriate for you or your child.
All test kits will be posted to your home. You can then:
- Complete most tests at home
- Use a phlebotomist near your home or workplace for blood tests
Exception: If you’re travelling to London and need a blood test, we can usually arrange a blood draw the same day with enough advance notice.
Acute or emergency care
What We Can Help With
We’re a nutrition and lifestyle clinic specializing in holistic support for chronic health conditions.
Between consultations, our clinical team can:
- Answer 1-2 brief questions about your current health plan
- Provide clarification if needed to move forward
For anything more, please book a follow-up consultation.
What We Cannot Provide Between Consultations
We cannot offer support for:
- New or unrelated acute health issues (infections, accidents, injuries)
- Ad-hoc nutrition advice for other family members (they need their own consultation)
- Emergency care or advice
Purchasing Remedies and Supplements
Visit naturedoc.shop for natural remedies, topical applications, and food supplements.
Need help selecting products? Email: support@naturedoc.shop
Emergency Situations
If you or your child’s physical or mental health declines rapidly, seek medical advice from a qualified doctor immediately. We are not an emergency service.
Are there any off-limits conditions?
We cannot work with clients who currently have:
- Active cancer
- Active eating disorders (anorexia or bulimia)
- Active kidney disease
However, we can help you if:
- Your medical treatment ended more than 6 months ago.
- We’re also happy to connect you with the right specialists for your needs in the interim.
Can I have an appointment for the whole family?
Yes, we’d be delighted to support your whole family.
How it works:
- Separate initial consultations for each family member
- We aim to keep families with one practitioner (or adults with one, children with another, depending on availability)
- First family member: 90 minutes
- Additional family members: 60 minutes (may change based on complexity)
We recommend: Only book two family members back-to-back on one day. Schedule other family members for different times/dates.
Contact us on reception@naturedoc.co.uk for pricing details.
Do you offer evening or weekend consultations?
No, we can’t offer evening or weekend appointments at present. As we’re all parents, we need to reserve this time for our families.
See other FAQs for how we make daytime appointments work.
Do you see babies?
Yes, we see babies from six weeks old and we have a dedicated team to support new mummies and their babies.
Do you see International clients?
Yes, we welcome clients worldwide and work with people overseas via our secure video telehealth system.
Limitation: We don’t have insurance for the USA or Canada, so we can’t consult with anyone living in North America currently.
We can usually arrange:
- Lab test kits posted/couriered to most countries
- Food supplements shipped internationally
Please consider time differences when booking.
Booking: Email our reception team rather than calling on reception@naturedoc.co.uk
Do you see older patients?
Yes we have a number of elderly patients who benefit hugely from natural medicine.
Can I bring my other children?
For in-person consultations, we need to keep waiting areas from becoming overcrowded and noisy. Please keep numbers to a bare minimum.
Best approach: Bring another adult who can keep other children occupied. There are open spaces and family-friendly cafés near our clinics.
What if my child is very anxious about attending the appointment?
If your child has high anxiety, can be loud, or tends to wander, please email us well in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
Many parents choose video calls via our secure system as this is easier for the child.
Are you allergen-free?
We cannot guarantee that the clinic rooms are allergen free. If you or your child is extremely allergic to a specific food or environmental allergen then please book a virtual consultation.
Do you have disabled facilities?
Our clinics don’t currently have wheelchair facilities. In these cases, a virtual consultation may be more appropriate.
Do you have toys and entertainment?
We have plenty of toys to keep your young child amused during the consultation, however you might want to bring a favourite toy or activity along with you. Some children who find it difficult to settle, find it comforting for their parents to bring an iPad.
What if I am running late?
Call us on 020 3397 1824 and our booking team will relay a message to your practitioner.
You can also text your practitioner a reply to your appointment reminder SMS.
